You host a hive. We manage it. The environment benefits. That's pretty sweet!

We install a hive in your yard and manage it.You provide the location. We do everything else:
- ensuring the hive has enough food and water throughout the year.
- checking and treating for pests.
- preventing swarms.
- winterizing your hive. When the bees are ready to share, we harvest your honey and wax for you. We can even jar it with custom labels, making for perfect locally-crafted gifts.
Benefits for the environment:
- Bees pollinate gardens, flowerbeds, and native plants, increasing biodiversity, and keeping Bend beautiful.- Bees can travel up to 5 miles from your home. Small, local farms can benefit from your bees!- All hives produce queens and drones that visit communal mating sites. Your healthy bees will be helping to make new hives!
Benefits for you:
- The most local honey and beeswax you can possibly make, right out of your own yard!- We keep it simple for you: no risking the health of your hive as you learn a complex skill; no getting your hands sticky, dirty, or stung; and no limitations on travel because you have to check your hive every week.

288 dollars one time covers your new baby colony (called a nucleus or "nuc"), a home for them to live in, and installation in your yard (including a small water source). We will also install native flowering plants near the hive, if you are interested.
117 dollars every month after installation covers all hive maintenance needs: weekly visits in the spring, summer, and fall to check for food, water, pests, and to prevent swarms; bi-weekly visits in the winter; and harvesting your honey and wax, when the bees are ready to share.Individual glass honey jars with custom labels are an additional fee; otherwise honey will be provided in large jars or jugs.
